Made for rooms with high ceilings typically 8 feet or higher. Hunter fans are compatible with single threaded downrods while hunter original fans require a double threaded downrod. For taller ceilings many fan manufacturers suggest dropping a ceiling fan all the way down to 8 to 9 feet from floor level. This insures the fan passes building code when installed from a standard 8 foot ceiling.
This is a fan without a downrod. Many ceiling fans include a downrod. For example if your ceiling is 12 feet high and your ceiling fan is 12 inches in height you will need a 24 inch downrod to mount the ceiling fan between eight and nine feet above the floor. 9 ft ceiling 6 in downrod.
